Some of my peonies are finally starting to bloom after a long awaited growth period. Sometimes I look at the buds a wonder, "how much bigger are they gonna GET!?". I snapped this picture the day before the first bloom of the summer:
And here it is on bloom day! So delicate and pretty.
In this pitcher pot I have planted bunny tails grass, which will be nice in the fall/winter months....at least, I think it'll stay through winter. Its on the front porch, so it shouldn't get too covered in snow. Anyway, surrounding the grass are moss roses that are just starting to take off. Last year, I removed the seed pods after they formed and was able to save the seeds from the plants I had purchased. What a great way to save money!
the blue flower is lobelia. I love bunny tails grass. I grew some from seed and once it starts blooming it keeps on going.
ReplyDeleteI love your enthusiasm about all your buds and blooms. Fun, isn't it? I, too, think the blue flower is lobelia and this is the first year in many that I haven't included it in some of my pots. Sometimes it doesn't like intense heat, but with the cool weather we've been having it should thrive beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYour peony is beautiful. It's amazing how big the buds get and then just pop open. Don't you just love the smell?!
ReplyDeleteYes, Lobelia...thats right! Thank you ladies for your insight! The peony scent is so intense...it smells like a perfume that a person would put on.
ReplyDeleteThe peonies are beautiful-thanks for sharing.
